(CAD), an industry leader of IT infrastructure, management and security solutions, is proud to announce its Diamond level reseller status with Barracuda Networks, the leader in content security, networking and application delivery, and storage and data protection. The Diamond level is the highest partnership level attainable, and Barracuda Networks has stringent requirements for its partners to obtain this status. One of the benefits of CAD having Diamond level status is their ability to pass additional discounts to CAD’s customers.

CAD has partnered with Barracuda Networks for the last year to help customers protect their networking systems against email, web and IM threats and improve application delivery, network access, message archiving, backup and data protection. CAD originally selected Barracuda Networks for the momentum and growth in their award-winning security, networking and storage solutions. Easy to deploy and use, Barracuda Networks products can be up-and-running in minutes; in addition, there are no per user, per server, per port or per feature licensing fees for any Barracuda Networks appliance, making them the most affordable, effective integrated solution available.

Barracuda Networks’ product lines include firewalls, web filters, SSL VPN’s, link and load balancers, message archivers, backup services and cloud services for both web and email security. The Barracuda Web Filter and Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall were recently named winners of Network Product Guide’s 2012 Hot Companies and Best Products Awards.

CAD’s owners and principals have more than 60 years of combined experience and hundreds of certifications. The company prides itself on offering reliable and secure wired and wireless network design, implementation services and security solutions, as well as training, convergence and recovery services.

“We are extremely pleased to have CAD as a Barracuda Networks Diamond partner,” said Charlie Evans, Southeast Channel Sales Manager. “CAD has been a valued partner from the beginning, especially across our Spam & Virus Firewall, Message Archiver, Web Filter, and Barracuda Backup Service product lines, and we look forward to continuing the success and momentum of our partnership.”

CAD is looking forward to developing more partner opportunities with Barracuda Networks including additional customer events and product trainings. “We have worked hard to receive this level of sponsorship with Barracuda Networks,” said Susan Jabbusch, President of CAD. “Being a Diamond partner will benefit our customers, CAD and Barracuda Networks in so many ways.”

Due to an increase in eastern U.S. market demand, Carolina Advanced Digital, Inc. (CAD), an industry leader of IT infrastructure, management and security solutions, has opened a new office in Tampa, Fla. This is CAD’s first office outside of Cary, NC.

CAD’s new office opened July 11 in conjunction with the Florida Local Government Information Systems Association (FLGISA) conference in Clearwater, Fla. The annual conference provides the opportunity for exhibitors to showcase new products or services and connect with those ultimately responsible for technology functions.

CAD’s new office is close to Meru Networks‘ eastern U.S. office. Meru Networks, one of CAD’s top partners, develops and markets wireless infrastructure solutions to provide industry-leading innovations that deliver pervasive, wireless service fidelity for business-critical applications to major Fortune 500 enterprises, universities, healthcare organizations and local, state and federal government agencies.

Kory Thornberg, one of CAD’s network engineers who specializes in wireless networking and security, is heading up the new office. “I am excited for the chance to better serve clients by opening up a CAD office in their area,” said Thornberg, “and being near Meru Networks will benefit our wireless network market.”

“We have been doing business in Florida for some years and often considered a presence there,” said John Jabbusch, Chairman and CEO of CAD. “Recent general growth in both technical sales and demand for our professional engineering services in Florida, combined with the burgeoning demands of the BYOD market and our excellent relationship with our manufacturing partner Meru Networks, drove the decision to commit to an office in Tampa. We look forward to continued growth there and even closer coordinated efforts with Meru.”

It’s that time of year again! Carolina Advanced Digital would like to invite you to join us at our tenth annual IT Hot Topics Conference and Golf Tourney at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC. Seating is limited and the event is free for CAD customers as part of the CAD Customer Loyalty Program.

CAD’s IT Hot Topics Conference is one of the largest security events in the area. An event that started as a technical user group, IT Hot Topics Conference has blossomed in to a full conference, with internationally-known speakers and technical sessions unparalleled in the area. This year is the tenth anniversary of the conference.

Each year, CAD designs content around the requests of the customers and attendees, identifying the industry’s most current “hot topics”, which is how the conference earned its name. Our partners—HP Networking, HP ESSN, Juniper, Meru Networks, Bradford Networks, SonicWALL, Trustwave Spiderlabs, Barracuda, UNC School of Government, LockFALE, ISSA, and Infragard—co-sponsor the event. The content is a mix of technology showcases from selected vendors, and special technology sessions presented by CAD’s engineering staff and invited speakers. All sessions are presented by practitioners and engineers, and no sales presentations are allowed.

As part of the tenth anniversary celebration of the conference, we’ve decided to add a full day of hands-on labs, reserved for CAD customers and invited attendees only. We will have four hands-on lab sessions on Wednesday, May 2nd: HP Networking management, Meru Networks wireless, SonicWALL, and Pen Testing for Sys Admins. Lab details will be provided soon. Thursday, May 3rd, we’ll have a morning keynote by Chris Hoff, lunch keynote and special messaging from Michael Santarcangelo, and all of the technical breakout sessions, vendor sessions and round tables where you can talk one-on-one with CAD and partner engineers. And, as always, we wrap up the conference on Friday with our IT Hot Topics Golf Tourney.

The 2012 RSA Conference begins next week in San Francisco. Thursday, March 1st, CAD’s Jennifer Minella will be hosting the Peer2Peer session on BYOD in the enterprise. If you are heading that way, this session is not to be missed (BYOD is the buzzword of the year it seems!).

Doubts, Dread and Decisions: Dealing with BYOD in the Enterprise P2P

Session: P2P-306A (Peer2Peer Track)
Moderator: Jennifer Jabbusch Minella, CISO, Infrastructure Security Specialist, CAD, Inc.
Time: Thursday, March 1, 3:20 PM, 50 minutes in Room 110

Overview: With the consumerization of wireless and networked devices, the concept of BYOD (bring your own device) has most enterprise security teams scrambling for guidance. In this P2P session, attendees will exchange ideas on integrating unmanaged and personal devices in the enterprise environment, and discuss ways to secure assets, protect resources, manage use and create policies to govern it all.

More BYOD goodness: Jennifer rounded-up a list of other BYOD sessions at RSA next week and started a collection of BYOD resources on her blog, Security Uncorked.

Many of CAD’s partners will have booths at the RSA conference this year, be sure to stop by and say hello (and tell them CAD sent you!):

Now that the holidays are over, how are you handling the onslaught of new wireless devices on your network? If you’re in the majority, you’re probably still trying to figure out how to offer secure, reliable network access for employees and guests, most of whom are bringing personal devices into the office. Meru Networks and Carolina Advanced Digital, Inc. are teaming up to provide the technical info on how Meru Networks’ wireless technology is structurally different, more reliable and more cost-effective than any other competitor in the market.

Meru Networks’ wireless shines in high density, BYOD, and highly mobile environments. They’ve solved wireless issues in huge healthcare, education, hospitality, and retail accounts (among others). Of course, CAD has Meru certified engineers on staff and a wide range of successful Meru implementations.

In this webinar, you’ll learn how to:

Design a wireless infrastructure that is scalable, secure and supports increased density.

Deliver quick, easy and secure network access to guests and employee-owned devices on the enterprise network.

Reduce IT overhead and burden by simplifying network access and provisioning for guests.

You may have seen these in our newsletter or on our Facebook page, but here are some great Meru Networks videos to introduce you to the technology and how it works:

Criminals using hacking techniques can cost corporations, governments, and individuals millions of dollars each year. While the media focuses on the grand-scale attacks that have been planned for months and executed by teams and countries, there are thousands more that aren’t broadcast. Low Tech Hacking focuses on the everyday hacks that, while simple in nature, actually add up to the most significant losses. Attackers are using common techniques like social engineering, wireless hacking, and targeting and surveillance to gain access to valuable data. This book contains detailed descriptions of potential threats and vulnerabilities, many of which the majority of the information systems world may be unaware. Author Jack Wiles spent many years as an inside penetration testing team leader, proving these threats and vulnerabilities exist and their countermeasures work. His contributing authors are among the best in the world in their respective areas of expertise.

Contains insider knowledge of what could be your most likely Low Tech threat

Includes timely advice from some of the top security minds in the world

Covers many detailed countermeasures that you can employ to improve your security posture
