3/7/11 – Juniper introduced the Converged Supercore, a new approach that gives the core unprecedented scale, simplicity and operational efficiency by converging the optical and packet layers of the network. It’s a solution only possible with Juniper innovations on three very important fronts:
- Silicon — The Junos Express chipset has been purpose-built to economically and efficiently transport massive amounts of data and is the fastest and most scalable chipset in the industry.
- Systems — The new PTX Series, a Converged Supercore switch is built with native MPLS switching and optical integration — a first.
- Software — Still unmatched in the industry, Junos is the single operating system that allows you to manage it all. And the Converged Supercore gives you a single network management system to manage the optical and packet layers.
This is a comprehensive solution that puts service providers back in control of the network while leveraging existing investments, regardless of vendor. Now services can dictate network connectivity — and not the other way around.
